The title character of this strange and little-known spoof series is another crime-fighter. His originated as a man challenged to read 5,000 comic books at once. A task which leads to brain damage and the decision to don a costume featuring an enormous carrot-looking mask.

The character has been published by several companies and been featured in crossovers with many other characters, including Cerebus and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In addition, the series would feature the fiery vegetable character joining a team of superheros called the Mystery Men.

In 1999, the movie Mystery Men was released, though it did not actually feature the Flaming Carrot character. Despite strong reviews, it failed to bring in big money at the box office. In more recent years, however, it has developed a cult following.
