7. Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) - Both Sex & The City Movies
The Character: Carrie is, of course, the protagonist of the hugely popular HBO show, a New York City writer trying to navigate the labyrinthine maze that is dating in your thirties and beyond. Why She's Offensive: Carrie has always been the most boring of the four main characters, though she became outright annoying and even an offensive character in the two movies, and much like Twilight's Bella, sacrificed any agency she might otherwise have in the quest for "romance". Carrie's on-again-off-again romance with super-douche Mr. Big (Chris Noth) ultimately seems to be more about possessions and status than actual respect and communication, and so by the end of two movies, for them to stay together just doesn't really feel like it makes sense. Carrie's obsessions with getting a ring on the finger and indulging in ridiculous fashion ultimately puts any character she actually had in the back seat, and again, given the icon that she is to so many women, it's a horrible example to set. And that's without talking about the blatant racism of the second movie... Does She Ruin The Movies?: As she's the protagonist, unavoidably yes.
