15 Most Overrated Movies Of The 2020s (So Far)

If Michael Bay ever made a biopic, it would probably look something like Elvis. And that definitely isn't a compliment.
The praise for Baz Luhrmann's Elvis Presley biopic is simply inexplicable. A hopelessly OTT, bloated and soulless biopic that feels more like an extended montage than a movie, Elvis is a completely overdone movie that fails both as a story and as an examination of Presley himself.
Austin Butler's work is highly impressive - although he's dragged down a bit by a bizarre supporting turn from a wildly miscast Tom Hanks - but the film simply speeds through the greatest hits without ever allowing us to get to know the musical legend. It's certainly well-shot, but with such weak writing it's hard to care much about that.
'Overrated' is an understatement.
An Underrated Alternative: Love & Mercy (2015) - a genuinely great musician biopic that remains sadly under-seen.
