10. The Bear - Annihilation

Another movie seemingly "limited" by its release on Netflix, Annihilation was one of the trippiest movies of the year, with the final act in particularly going wildly off the rails. But it was a moment earlier in the film that won the strangest - and most pause-worthy - moment, as a infamous "bear" made its appearance.

When Cassie (Tuva Novotny) is mauled to death by a horrifying creature, the same bear-like animal returns when the group have been restrained and interrogated by Anya (Gina Rodriguez). We hear Cassie's screams coming from the creature, as if it's stolen her voice before Anya attacks it and has her jaw ripped off. That's a pause-worthy moment for the more morbid of watchers, but it's the "bear's" close-up that really warrants it.

That's the stuff of nightmares, right there.
