15 Most Paused Sci-Fi Movie Moments
10. Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope - Han Vs. Greedo
It's a moment that has passed into sci-fi infamy. The original cut saw Han shoot first, later remade as though Han acted in self-defense, although it has seen several edits since.
Picture yourself in the Cantina at Mos Eisley. It's already been described as a wretched hive of scum and villainy, so should we really have expected any more than a shootout between fan favourite Han Solo and singularly ugly bounty hunter Greedo?
Probably not. It's a scene that cemented Han Solo as a badass in the eyes of everyone who saw it. Without even deigning to stand, Han uses his remarkably quick reactions to shoot Greedo before he can do anything about it.
Given that there are several versions of this scene out there (thank you for that, George Lucas), it's sparked some debate between fans as to whether or not Han is deserving of the reverence often afforded to him.
No matter which version of the scene we're talking about, you can bet on the fact that there are thousands of people out there who have pored over each and every frame to try to work out which side of the debate they come down on.
