Though they aren't as common today, there was a time when Hollywood films could best be described as epics. Such films cost a massive amount of money, featured lavish and intricate sets, and included thousands of people. The Ten Commandments in 1956 was one such film, and it was an amazing movie.

The movie saw Charlton Heston in the lead role of Moses, Yul Brynner as Rameses, and many more of the era's most talented actors. The Ten Commandments created one of the largest sets ever created for a movie, and it was shot on location, making it a huge production.

Cecil B. DeMille directed the movie, and it went on to become his final, yet most successful movie ever made. In 1957, it took home two of the seven Academy Awards it was nominated for, including Best Visual Effects and the coveted Best Picture award.

The Ten Commandments' $13 million budget adjusted for inflation in 2020 comes to a cost of $124.2 million. Its adjusted box office receipts amounted to an adjusted total of $1.172 billion, which brings its adjusted profit for the studio to an estimated $527 million
