15 Most Profitable Movies Of All Time

10. Frozen 2 (2019)

Avengers Endgame
Disney

When Frozen came out in 2013, it smashed all kinds of records and drove parents around the world insane with the 3,000th playing of "Let it Be." The movie was a massive hit, and it did something that Disney only did once before; it earned itself a sequel.

To be clear, Disney (not Pixar) has been making sequels for decades, but they were all released direct-to-video, not theatrically. Frozen 2 is only the second theatrical sequel to come from Walt Disney Animation Studios; Disney changed its strategy, and for a very good reason: money.

The first Frozen film pulled in $1.430 billion, and that's a lot of money for a Disney animated film. Making sequels made good economic sense, so Frozen 2 got the green light, and it performed even better than its predecessor in terms of money earned and the profits made.

Frozen 2 cost Disney around $167 million to produce, and it had a fairly high break-even point, but that didn't matter. The movie made $1.476 billion at the global box office, which earned the studio a hefty profit of just under $599 million. Disney hasn't confirmed another sequel, but with those margins, it's only a matter of time.
