15 Most Terrifying Sci-Fi Movie Scenes Ever
13. Terminator 2: Judgment Day - Call To John
The terrifying future tech of the T1000 mixed with Robert Patrick’s ice-cold performance makes for one of the best and scariest villains in cinema history. So, it should be no surprise, that this ironically scary character is responsible for some truly terrifying moments.
There are quite a few throughout Terminator 2, but the one scene that should really put a shiver down your spine is when the T1000 tries to force Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) to “call john”.
Let’s face it, the idea of an unstoppable force, that can’t be reasoned with and is willing to knowingly and remorselessly torture you to achieve its goal is a truly terrifying prospect. Patrick’s slow unwavering pace and unblinking eyes throughout the film/scene really sell him as an emotionless machine, especially, when he gives no reaction to having his head split apart by a shotgun.
It gets even worse, when he impales Sarah and pins her to a wall, her agonised screams make her seem utterly helpless and is made even worse when the T1000 slowly twists the blade that’s already in her shoulder. Then, as he slowly extends another needle point blade towards Sarah’s eye, he says; “I know this hurts”.
His flat and unfeeling delivery and blank expression is what make this scene truly terrifying, as you feel like there is no escape.
