15 Most Terrifying Sci-Fi Movie Scenes Ever
9. The Fly – Final Transformation
The Fly remake in 1986 staring Jeff Goldblum as Seth Brundle/The Fly, is one of the most famous sci-fi films ever, and contains some of the most terribly horrific scenes of body horror ever put to film.
Indeed, one of the most brutal scenes is when “Brundle-Fly” uses his acidic vomit to melt both and mans hand and foot. But nothing comes close to the final transformation, where Seth Brundle disappears entirely, and The Fly emerges.
This scene is already built on a horrendous premise as Brundle is trying to drag Veronica (Geena Davis), who is pregnant, into the teleportation pod with him, so that they will merge into one being. Then, while that terrifying awfulness is happening, and Veronica tries to escape, she nocks of Brundle’s lower jaw which seems to trigger the final transformation.
Brundle’s skin starts to tare, his head collapses and begins to fall apart revealing a slimy bugs face. It doesn’t stop there though. The Fly soon ends up one of the teleportation pods and when he is halfway through escaping is transfused with the teleportation pod itself. When he reappears, its in the form of a horrible but helpless mixture of flesh and metal that can barely move.
