15 Most Underrated Sci-Fi Movies Of All Time
10. 2046
2046 is yet another example of writer/director Wong Kar-wai’s innate ability to create beautiful films and, much like his masterpiece In The Mood for Love, 2046 is a film in which he masterfully throws romance into an unusual setting to highlight the pitfalls of it.
2046 is actually, at the very least superficially, connected closely with In The Mood for Love as Tony Leung once again reprises his character (in name at least), Maggie Cheung has a guest appearance and the room 2046 is a nod back to Wong Kar-wai's 2001 film too. The connection adds to the film of course, but it is a brilliant film all in its own right. The story is complex and compelling in equal measure and as beautifully presented to us as any science fiction film to date.
A beautiful romantic journey wrapped warmly in an original and engaging science fiction setting, 2046 is a visual feast that should be shared buffet style with as many people as you can find.
