15 Most Underrated Spy Movies Of All Time

11. Three Days of the Condor

Will Smith Enemy Of The State
Paramount Pictures

Dark, bleak, and steeped in the justified paranoia that post-Watergate seventies cinema is famous for, Three Days of the Condor is another banger from Robert Redford.

Directed by the legendary Sydney Pollack, whose career also included another pair of underrated spy flicks 2005's The Interpreter and 2007's Michael Clayton, this one is a must-watch for spy film fans.

It follows Redford playing against type as a nerdy bookworm in the CIA's employ who comes back from his lunch break to find his co-workers assassinated en masse, prompting him to grab a gun and hunt down the killers. As one does.

Many critics complained that this flick rehabilitated the CIA's dodgy public image after the Family Jewels scandal came to light, but re-watching the film in the twenty first century its uncompromisingly pessimistic "trust no one" attitude still rings true decades later.
