15 Most Unlikely Horror Movie Villains

7. A Laundry Press – The Mangler

The Gingerdead Man
New Line Cinema

Any horror fan worth their salt can tell you that Stephen King adaptations have a tendency to go one of two ways: sheer brilliance (see The Shining, Misery or the original Carrie) or absolutely bloody awful (see The Dark Tower, Dreamcatcher or any of the Children of the Corn films). The Mangler falls into the latter category.

A career low point for Texas Chainsaw Massacre director Tobe Hooper, the movie focuses around a demonically possessed laundry press with a taste for human flesh and stars genre stalwarts Robert Englund and Ted Levine – both of whom have played infinitely superior villains in the form of Freddy Krueger and Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs and should really be ashamed of themselves for taking part in the mangled mess that is The Mangler.

Who knows? Maybe Hooper, Englund and Levine needed the money but really – a haunted industrial-sized iron? Some things are just inexcusable.
