3. It Lazily Recycles Previous Plot Twists - Jigsaw

Fans of the Saw franchise were hoping that the long-awaited Jigsaw would be a gritty, bold reinvention of the franchise, delivering the expected gore while finding a clever, unexpected way for the series to continue with some new blood in the mix.

That's sadly pretty much the opposite of what happened, as not only did the movie feature less gore than just about every prior movie in the series, but it also lazily rehashed two of the series' more memorable plot twists.

Firstly, it's revealed late in the day that the majority of the movie actually took place 10 years prior, and worse still, there's yet another new apprentice who has been waiting in the wings all this time, ready to continue John Kramer's (Tobin Bell) work.

Timeline rug-pulls and "but one more apprentice!" twists have both been done before and felt like the series coasting on its prior glory, while hoping that the seven years between movies might've made fans simply happy to see another Saw film, no matter how much it sucked.

After almost a decade away, though, this was really the best and most inventive story they could come up with? Yeesh.
