5. The Random Dr. Sartain Subplot - Halloween

For all the many things the new Halloween sequel got right, what the hell was up with that totally random subplot where psychiatrist Dr. Ranbir Sartain (Haluk Bilginer) loses his mind and decides to help Michael Myers out?

Sartain not only murders Deputy Hawkins (Will Patton) in order to facilitate Michael's escape from police custody, but it's heavily implied that he caused the initial bus crash which first allowed Michael to get loose.

His rationale? He's desperate to know why Michael does what he does, and wants to set him loose on Haddonfield once again for a final showdown with Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis).

It's ultimately just a lazy way to get Michael and Laurie together for the third act, and because it's not weird enough yet, Sartain then decides to wear Michael's mask for a brief moment.

The only upside of Sartain's heel turn is that he gets the best death scene in the entire movie, having his head stomped into a gooey mess by Michael.
