4. There's No True "Happy" Ending - Black Mirror: Bandersnatch

Netflix's innovative Choose Your Own Adventure film received broad praise for blurring the line between video games and movies while offering up a unique, gorgeously shot and superbly acted spin on the usual Black Mirror formula.

Within a few days, viewers had figured out the majority of the story permutations, and many expressed frustration that there was no legitimately happy ending for young video game programmer Stefan Butler (Fionn Whitehead).

Even the more poignant and dramatically satisfying endings don't tend to give Stefan an easy time, and though it's never really been Black Mirror's prerogative to end on an upbeat note, many expected things to be a little different with multiple endings on offer.

But seriously, it's Black Mirror. Why would you ever expect the possibility of a happy ending?
