15 Movie Poster Trends That Really Need To Die
7. Superheroes Look Upward And To The Side
Nearly every Marvel movie has done this since the beginning.
Right out the gates; it's not a bad idea to be fair. But for ensemble team mashups where every character and their pet is on the poster, having them all stare directly forward would just be eerie.
It's been done to death so much now that it's even been parodied in memes and commented on by Marvel fans themselves. What are all these heroes doing? Why are they looking up so hopeful?
Admittedly, with smaller superhero-team films, there will most likely be more side-eye at each other than off into the distance. But for the big Avengers team-ups every character is bringing their a-game when they spot an errant fly buzzing around on the ceiling.
If I were to suggest one alternative; maybe tone down the number of characters staring off into the distance. Have a few of them looking at each other or mid-action. That way it wouldn't be so obvious.
DC films haven't steered into this trend just yet. Which doesn't mean they get the upper hand. It just makes us wonder if Disney owns the rights to looking to the top-right as well as everything else?
