6. Unfriended 2
The Original: Unfriended turned out to be one of the year's most pleasant surprises so far, a film that looked like pure garbage on paper but was a surprisingly effective and unique horror flick. With the film taking place entirely on a laptop screen, director Leo Gabriadze does a stellar job capturing contemporary teens in their technologically-infused element, and though not especially scary, it's consistently intriguing throughout its brief 83-minute run-time. Critics gave it mostly positive reviews and it made a huge $62.9 million against a mere $1 million budget. The Sequel: No horror movie is that successful without a sequel, and it was quickly greenlit for a 2016 release. As far as is known, Unfriended 2 hasn't gone before cameras yet, but if Gabriadze can find a way to milk the same level of suspense while introducing enough game-changing material, this could be the start of a fun new franchise that feels very of-the-moment. How Likely Is It?: Given how quickly films like this can be made, it'd be a huge shock if it wasn't in cinemas for next Halloween. Bank on it. 9/10
