3. 23 Jump Street
The Originals: 2012's movie reboot of the classic 80s TV series was something few had much hope for going in, so what a surprise it was when the end result was one of the year's funniest films, stirring up strong critical reviews and over $200 million at the box office. 22 Jump Street came about in 2014 and gleefully mocked the redundancy of movie sequels, resulting in another terrific success against the odds, pulling in an astonishing $331.1 million worldwide and great reviews once again. The Sequel: The third film was teased in 22, where a sign for "23 Jump Street Apartments" was visible briefly. It was greenlit shortly after 22 came out, and though writer-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller may not be returning to helm, they will be overseeing the script and keeping an eye on the production. They claim to have found another hook on which to hang a subversive sequel, but are remaining tight-lipped about it for now. How Likely Is It?: Lord and Miller are busy guys these days, but it seems pretty likely that the film will at least start shooting next year, probably for a 2017 bow. 7/10
