15 Movie Sequels That Better Happen In 2016

12. Spaceballs 2: The Search For More Money

The Original: Mel Brooks' iconic 1987 Star Wars parody may not have done much business at the box office (probably because it came too late after the release of 1983's Return of the Jedi), but it's endured over the years as an uproariously entertaining spoof, bolstered by outrageous physical comedy and an array of excellent performances (especially Rick Moranis as the villainous "Dark Helmet"). The Sequel: The prospect of a sequel is even floated in the first film itself, when Brooks' character Yogurt (yes, a Yoda parody) says, "God willing, we'll all meet again in Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money." Brooks has been trying to get Spaceballs 2 off the ground for years, and as of late is hoping to make the movie after the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Though original stars John Candy, Joan Rivers, Dick Van Patten and Dom DeLuise have sadly all passed away, Brooks is hoping to coax Rick Moranis out of retirement to reprise his Dark Helmet role. How Likely Is It?: Given that Brooks will probably want to see The Force Awakens first, he'd have to work fast to get the film shooting by the end of 2016. It's definitely possible, and there will be added urgency given that Brooks is already 89 years old, but this seems like one of those projects which sadly might never happen. If Brooks dies within the next year, then you can probably forget about it entirely. 2/10
