The four Pirates of the Caribbean movies have grossed a total of $3.7 billion to date, and this summer's Dead Men Tell No Tales will surely contribute another dumptruck full of cash to that cume. Quality hasn't mattered in this franchise since basically the second movie, so there's very little standing in the way of its box office dominance.
So, it's basically a foregone conclusion that Disney will greenlight POTC6 as soon as those opening weekend numbers are in. They might be slightly nervous after Alice Through the Looking Glass bombed, but POTC is so much more blatantly The Johnny Depp Show, so it's unlikely to suffer the same fate.
Though some reports online suggest the upcoming fifth film will be the last, that's incredibly tough to believe given how easily these movies can be churned out for mass consumption with little regard for critical reception.
