15 Movies From This Decade (So Far) Destined To Become Classics

5. Skyfall

On the face of it there's very little about Skyfall which separates it from the rest of the James Bond franchise - the sexy Bond girls, car chases, nefarious villains and twisting plot are all familiar components found in each preceding installment of the ongoing spy series. But while Skyfall might tread familiar ground on the surface, the style and panache with which it is executed stands head and shoulders above everything which came before. Bringing on board a director of real calibre like Sam Mendes was certainly a factor in this (and hiring award-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins helped make the film look so beautiful). Skyfall takes everything that makes the Bond franchise so popular and enduring and does it better than ever before. The only quality it lacks when held up against Bond of yesteryear is the campiness, surely something we can be glad to see the back of.
