15 Movies That Made 2017 The Dumbest Year Ever

15. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

You know you're in for a rough ride when a movie touts itself as "The Final Chapter" but predictably leaves itself wide open for more movies in the final 30 seconds.

The sixth Resident Evil movie may or may not be the worst entry into the series (it's honestly pretty hard to tell at this point), but it's a shoo-in for being the dumbest.

Lazily cashing in on the success of Mad Max: Fury Road, the film adopts a vaguely similar aesthetic, right down to replicating the same staccato editing style, but without any of the form or discipline that would make it visually coherent.

Milla Jovovich is fine as usual in the lead role, but a demented third-act plot twist (she was a clone all along!) massively undermines audience investment in the entire series, while the CGI is horrible throughout and Wesker's death is stunningly lame.

Somehow despite all this The "Final" Chapter grossed over $310 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing movie in the franchise. There are no words.
