15 Movies That Made 2017 The Dumbest Year Ever
12. Justice League
Now, Justice League certainly isn't a terrible film, but from its almost comically botched production through to the underwhelming end product, it is a movie mired in stupidity.
It's clear that Warner Bros. attempted to morph the film into an extremely broad, straight-forward superhero blockbuster in post-production, hoping that the most casual audiences would show up for the playful banter and CGI battles.
As it turned out, they didn't show up in large numbers at all, seeing through the plain ruse that Justice League is a painfully uninspired, weirdly forgettable film with little in the way of narrative momentum, convincing character motivation or personality, despite starring a litany of talented actors and familiar superheroes.
Even as a purely visual experience it's pretty ugly, be it Henry Cavill's digitally-shaved face or the finale's garish red sky. And what the hell was with that random Russian family? Clearly a Joss Whedon reshoot, and clearly one that just didn't work at all.
What a bungled mess. At least Batman v Superman had a vision, albeit a sloppy and misguided one. Justice League is just a vanilla, indifferent experience from start to finish with occasional moments that dare to be either intriguing or awful.
