The Buzz: This Werner Herzog-produced documentary follows the Soviet Union's Red Army hockey team at the peak of the Cold War, speaking to team captain Slava Fetisov as he recounts an on-the-ice feud which very much mirrored the world's political state of affairs at the time. With its hilarious yet affecting tone, Red Army was a minor hit at this year's Cannes, a testament to the power of sports to provoke discussion and promote expression. Oscar Predictions: A Best Documentary Feature nomination is almost certain, though like every other movie jostling for position in the category, it's at the mercy of Steve James' excellent Roger Ebert doc, Life Itself, which is pretty much a lock to win the Oscar already, short of a miracle momentum shift.
