15 Movies You Loved As A Kid (That Are Actually Terrible)
2. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie
During the mid-90s, there was arguably no hotter property aimed at children than Power Rangers, and so it was just a matter of time before the hit TV show would be spun off into a movie.
And save perhaps for Batman Forever, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie was the film that every kid was talking about at school and just had to see during the summer of 1995.
And as a child, it was everything you'd dreamed of and more: action-packed, colourful and fun. But re-watching the film decades later, it becomes apparent just how weirdly flat the whole thing is.
This should've been a huge-budget event film, yet instead the production design, cinematography and visual effects have an unmistakable cheapness to them. And apart from Paul Freeman's hysterical turn as the purple baddie Ivan Ooze, there's virtually nothing here that's even remotely memorable.
More cringe-worthy than appealingly campy, sadly. If you want to preserve those precious 24-year-old (!) memories, don't ever, ever return to this one.
