What Everyone Says About It: "It's just another lame PG-13 horror film that's full of cliches and isn't even scary at all. It's too silly for its own good and strangely boring." Why It Isn't Terrible: If you're unfamiliar with the films of Sam Raimi, it's easy to see why this one might confuse you, but every drop of campiness in this B-movie is intentional, because of course, it's from the guy who made the Evil Dead trilogy. While it might not instill genuine terror, Drag Me to Hell is both hilarious and bracingly intense, wiping off the genre's cobwebs and cleverly subverting them, especially in its shocking final scene. If not quite up there with the iconic works that made Raimi's career, it's still extremely imaginative and outrageous filmmaking, the sort many suspected the director didn't have in him after the calamity that was Spider-Man 3.
