What Everyone Says About It: "A wildly underwhelming conclusion to the Matrix Saga, Revolutions spins its wheels for 2 hours before ending with a ludicrous Smith-Neo fight that leads to an insanely frustrating cliffhanger regarding Neo's whereabouts. After a classic original and solid sequel in The Matrix Reloaded, Revolutions lacks the same jaw-dropping action and provocative food-for-thought, grinding the franchise to a disappointing halt." Why It Isn't Terrible: Though not without its considerable issues, it's unfairly fashionable to dismiss the third film entirely, even though it serves up a thrilling Zion battle sequence and some insane battling between Neo and Agent Smith. It's overblown and the ending is inexcusable, but it's hardly an absolute disaster: it's just a very average sci-fi action film which doesn't quite hit the epicness of what came before. Because the original in particular is so beloved, it's easy to see why so many fans turned on Revolutions, but in honesty, it's really not that bad at all: it's just plain average.
