15 Overhyped Movies You Wish You'd Not Watched

11. Don't Worry Darling

Don't Worry Darling was once predicted to be a possible Oscar contender... those predictions certainly aged like milk.

Olivia Wilde had made a strong directional debut with Booksmart, the cast was fantastic and the trailers looked awesome, so it's not surprising that Don't Worry Darling was one of 2022's most anticipated original movies. It was also further hyped-up by all the pre-release rumors about tension on-set, which are still pretty unclear to this day.

Well, whatever the actual hell was going on behind the scenes, it's hard to believe such an underwhelming, mediocre film could've caused so much trouble.

Florence Pugh, as you'd expect, is very good in the lead role and Olivia Wilde makes this a visually striking affair but she deserved a far better screenplay and Pugh deserved a better co-lead than the fairly limited Harry Styles. In the end, it's an illogical, unaffecting and fatally predictable work that does little more than provide reminders of the many far superior films it borrows from.

To sum up, Don't Worry Darling was one of those frustrating watches we all could do without.
