1. Kelsey Grammer As Beast - X-Men: The Last Stand

X-Men: The Last Stand is by no means the worst of Fox's X-Men movies, but back in 2006, the disappointment among fans was palpable.

Already under-utilised series leads were killed off, X2's Nightcrawler was nowhere to be found, and the film opted to forego the cosmic nature of the Dark Phoenix saga completely. Factor in a miscast Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut, a mutant cure plot that doesn't get nearly enough the exploration it deserves and the complete lack of Angel, and you're left with a sequel that fails in pretty much every aspect going - save for one.

Yes, The Last Stand may be a plain old bad film, but it also had an ace up its sleeve, and that came in the form of Kelsey Grammer, who played Doctor Hank McCoy, AKA Beast.

Grammer's performance as the X-Men's other resident fuzzy blue hero is as close to perfect as you can get. It's comparable to J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, or RDJ as Tony Stark, because for the entirety of the film he pretty much is Beast - they couldn't have cast the role any better.

Grammer managed to inherit all of Beast's trademark qualities, including his sense of humour, his intelligence and even his tamed ferocity. The fact he never returned in any of the subsequent X-films makes his performance The Last Stand's biggest casualty, and it's a crying shame that he'll likely never reprise the role ever again.
