15 Potentially Awesome Films Undermined By Their Terrible Endings
4. Hold The Dark
Hold the Dark, thanks to the brilliance of director Jeremy Saulnier's previous films, Green Room and Blue Ruin, seemed like one of the most promising Netflix Originals of 2018 and for the first half of the movie, with its great performances and mesmerising atmosphere, it looked set to deliver on that promise.
Then, it just drops the ball. Viewers will likely be enjoying it at first, but by the end they'll probably be hating the movie. The film becomes more and more confusing and less and less thrilling, with the Alexander Skarsgard character donning a wolf mask and going crazy in a highly random manner.
After a series of meaningless death scenes, the film ends out of nowhere with protagonist Russell Core (Jeffrey Wright, who's easily one of the film's biggest assets) waking up in hospital with his daughter by his bedside.
Because of how bad the latter part of the movie was, Hold the Dark was not only one of 2018's biggest disappointments, but frankly one of its biggest duds.
