15 Potentially Awesome Films Undermined By Their Terrible Endings
3. A Tale Of Two Sisters
A Tale of Two Sisters could very easily have been a modern horror classic. Why isn't it? After all, the film-making on display here is incredibly skilled, the performances are strong and the film has some of the most effective jump scares you'll ever see, so why isn't it a classic? The answer: it's one of the worst-told horror films of recent times.
Much of the film is pretty great, but the storytelling is incredibly flawed here and this makes for a fatally confusing watch. In its latter half, the film piles on twist after twist involving some of the characters being dead or imagined and various tragic events in the family's past, making it impossible to figure out what's going on.
As a result, viewers will spend most of the film's latter reels trying to unravel the plot instead of watching the film properly and the film doesn't explain everything until the very end of the movie. Unfortunately, by that point, viewers will probably have stopped caring. If you want to watch this one, make sure you have a plot summary open on another tab. Otherwise, you'll be completely lost.
