15 Predictions For 2014 Movies Everybody Got Wrong

1. The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies Will Be The Best Of The Trilogy

The Prediction: Though Peter Jackson's decision to split The Hobbit into three movies was almost universally derided by all but the most forgiving Tokein fans, it was still widely expected that the third film, The Battle of the Five Armies, would be the gem-stone of the trilogy, given the epic battles and sure closure it would bring to Bilbo's story. The Reality: Though Five Armies does feature the best action of the trilogy and brings things to a close in a relatively satisfying fashion, it's far from the decisively best of the three movies, and in many respects delivers some of the most bloated dialogue and perfunctory comic relief of the lot. It's thankfully the shortest of the three movies by a good deal, but it's typically regarded to be inferior to The Desolation of Smaug, and currently sits as the worst-reviewed of the three movies, scoring 61% compared to An Unexpected Journey's 64% and Smaug's 74%.
