1. Qi'ra Dies To Save Han - Solo: A Star Wars Story

Given that Han Solo's (Alden Ehrenreich) childhood pal Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke) isn't featured in the original trilogy, fans confidently assumed that she'd end up dead before the end of this origin story, likely sacrificing herself to save Han's life.

Expectations were thoroughly subverted, then, when Qi'ra not only survived to fight another day, but ended up basically becoming the movie's stealth-antagonist nobody saw coming.

After defeating her superior Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany), Qi'ra assumes his position in the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate, now reporting directly to her new boss, Darth Maul (Ray Park).

It was a most surprising twist for a character who seemed like she'd have a totally predictable arc. With Solo bombing at the box office, though, it sadly looks like we'll never find out where this path would lead Qi'ra.
