15 Predictions For 2018 Movies That Everybody Got Wrong

13. They're Secret Cloverfield Movies - A Quiet Place & Overlord

In the lead-up to the release of John Krasinski's horror hit A Quiet Place, speculation intensified that it would be a secret entry into the Cloverfield franchise.

Though writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods did actually talk with Paramount about the prospect of inserting it into the Cloververse, ultimately it was decided that the story stood better on its own two feet.

And then there's Nazi zombie horror flick Overlord, which was widely expected to be a Cloververse movie until producer J.J. Abrams confirmed early in 2018 that it was a standalone effort.

Even so, this didn't stop many fans understandably assuming that Abrams was tricking them, yet in this case he was actually telling the truth and Overlord was totally its own thing.

One suspects that had production gone smoother on The Cloverfield Paradox, though, Overlord may have included at least a few playful nods to the Cloververse.
