9. Julie Andrews Has A Secret Cameo - Mary Poppins Returns

The moment that a five-decades-later Mary Poppins sequel was announced, everyone and their grandma (literally) wondered whether Julie Andrews would appear in the movie in some form.

After all, a small cameo appearance could be a cute way for Andrews to pass the torch to the newly-minted Mary Poppins, Emily Blunt.

However, Andrews stated ahead of Mary Poppins Returns' release that she was offered a part but refused it for fear of distracting from Blunt's portrayal. Understandably, fans were pretty sceptical of her claim.

But she was in fact telling the truth: Andrews is nowhere to be seen in the film, having been offered the small role of the Balloon Lady which was ultimately played by Angela Lansbury.

In a bizarre feat of irony, though, Andrews did cameo in a major blockbuster movie released the very same month, voicing the aquatic beast known as Karathen in Aquaman. What a twist.
