15 Problems Only Film Fans In 2016 Would Understand
4. Michael Bay Finally Makes A Good Movie...And It Bombs
13 Hours sure isn't a great movie, but it is an entertaining action flick and a refreshing change of pace from Michael Bay's Transformers flicks.
With its real-world setting and a reverent but fairly respectful tone (for Bay's standards anyway), the film doubled down on its well-realised characters and, of course, the scintillating action audiences expect from Bay.
Despite being arguably one of Bay's best-ever films and easily his best in ages, it was also his lowest-grossing film to date, making just $69.4 million against a $50 million budget, essentially making it a box office dud.
Bay gets called the worst filmmaker ever by so many people as his movies make mega-bucks worldwide, then he finally makes something good and nobody turns up for it. Oh sweet irony.
