15 R-Rated Comic Book Movies That Need To Happen After Deadpool

12. The Nightly News

Nightly News Comic
Image Comics

A comic that endorses terrorism? Sure, why not? The plot of Jonathan Hickman's very first comic is quite simplistic: a terrorist organisation, the First Church of the Brotherhood of the Voice, begins killing journalists. They’re the heroes of the story.

According to the members of the group, the media and the government are controlled by the rich, who use the media outlets to indoctrinate the populace and keep them docile.

With the current climate of the media, mostly thanks to the rise of the internet, The Nightly News would be ideal for the big-screen treatment - with bloggers and YouTubers being just as manipulative as your typical "journalist" at Fox News or The New York Times.

The original comic makes it quite clear that while the Brotherhood may indeed be right about the conspiring powers that be, they have rejected one system of control and basically replaced it with another, their own cult. And like any cult it hammers in its take on the universe that the believer must accept and use to justify anything they in turn do. Which, in cinematic terms, would leave the audience wondering if they are any better than those they just declared war on.
