15 R-Rated Comic Book Movies That Need To Happen After Deadpool
10. The Boys
A feature film adaptation of the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic The Boys has been in the works for quite a while, but thus far the project has had trouble getting off the ground. Adam McKay has been attached to direct since the summer of 2010, but studios have thus far been wary of greenlighting a big budget hard-R anti-superhero movie that centres on a group of special agents tasked with policing the world’s superheroes by any means necessary.
Originally published by Wildstorm before moving to Dynamite Entertainment, the series is set between 2006-2008 in a world where superheroes exist. However, most of the superheroes in the series' universe are corrupted by their celebrity status and often engage in reckless behaviour, compromising the safety of the world. For this reason, a super-powered CIA squad, known informally as "The Boys", is charged with monitoring the superhero community.
The series is brutally violent and deliciously vulgar, and nothing less should be expected from a potential big-screen film adaptation.
