15 Reasons Jurassic World Was Absolutely Perfect
11. It Makes The Best Use Of The Raptors Since The Original
Next to the D-Rex, Chris Pratt training raptors was another big concern for people. The trailers reveal the fact that in this movie, the raptors are apparently being trained in some way, and Chris Pratt is able to wrangle them. Many of the posters and trailers prominently feature him riding along with them like pets, or like he’s Radagast in The Hobbit or something.
But this also wasn’t dumb! In fact, it was really cool! Without giving too much away, the way the film handles the raptors is just right. It isn’t that suddenly they're calm, easily domesticated creatures, which would be a weird reversal from the first movie. You can’t go from them being the main threat in the original to just an asset in this one.
That definitely isn’t what happens in Jurassic World, and they're also way more grounded than they were in Jurassic Park 3. Remember in that movie when the raptors would hide behind things and jump out like Michael Myers? The raptors aren't slasher villains this time. The movie really hammers home the idea that these really are wild animals.
It also does deal with the difficulties behind getting these raptors under control. It’s not like a Terminator 2 situation where suddenly the raptors are the good guys. They're still absolutely terrifying from their very first appearance on screen.
