15 Reasons Jurassic World Was Absolutely Perfect

12. The Indominus Rex Is Incredibly Awesome

Going into the movie, the Indominus Rex was a big concern for a lot of people. Wait, so they just bred a new hybrid dinosaur? Yes, while all the previous movies have featured "real" dinos, Jurassic World’s plot revolves around scientists flat out creating a new one by combining DNA. This seemed like it could be really dumb, with a stupid, Frankenstein’s monster style design that'd just be way over the top and silly.

But it was great! The D-Rex is perfectly in line with everything else in the film, and the only reason the average person would even know it’s not a real dinosaur is because they tell you. Otherwise, it completely fits and doesn’t seem like a ridiculous looking science experiment as a lot of people feared. It’s really just a bigger, more scary T-Rex, while also being properly distinct.

That was actually kind of an issue with the Spinosaurus in Jurassic Park 3. It felt like such a blatant attempt to say, "Hey, you were afraid of the T-Rex, but look, this thing is much worse!" It didn't really stand out as its own creature that much. Here, the D-Rex is a unique new dino with new abilities that are often pretty surprising, and it's dealt with in a totally fresh way. It isn't just another T-Rex, but it's also not a dumb movie monster.
