4. The Visit

Curse Of Chucky
Universal Pictures

It's fair to say that M. Night Shyamalan has been on a bad run, with the likes of Lady In The Water, The Last Air Bender and The Happening knocking his stock somewhat. So it was a curious thing that he decided to mark a comeback with what is essentially a found footage flick.

The move was a smart one, though, as along with reminding us that Shyamalan is and probably will remain a masterful director, the film breathes life into the fledgling sub genre.

The film carries with it a wacky premise, which sees a rapping brother and aspiring filmmaker sister meeting their Nana and Pop Pop for the first time. Staying with them out in the sticks, events soon get a bit wild.

There's a curfew they must not break - the secret masterfully revealed via a hidden camera moment - shitty diapers hidden in work shed and, in what can only be described as the scariest daytime moment in recent memory, a foray under the house that will stay with you for a long old time. Creepy and fantasitcally weird.
