6. Amy Elliott Dunne - Gone Girl
Rosamund Pike's haunting portryal of Amy Elliott Dunne was always a shoe-in for this list.
For the first half of the film Amy takes a backseat, only being shown in the flashbacks of her husband, Nick, who believes her to be missing, possibly even murdered. As the pressure of the investigation weighs and pieces of evidence slowly come to light, including Nick's affair with one of his students, there seems to be an unanticipated prime suspect: Nick Dunne himself.
At the film's midway reveal, though, we discover that Amy had menacingly staged the entire ordeal in order to make her once-loving husband pay for his negligence and unfaithfulness. Although we sympathise with Amy due to the grief that Nick had put her through, her methods turn her into more of an antihero, and most certainly divide the viewers.
Whilst Nick certainly deserved to face the consequences of his actions, the fact that Amy fabricated a pregnancy, made up the domestic abuse scenarios and drained her own blood to plant around the crime scene, all planned over a year, and all planned without so much as batting an eye.
Amy tops this all off by murdering Desi and forcing Nick into an unhappy reconciliation by revealing she had become pregnant using his sperm that had been stored in a fertility clinic.
This is one woman you should not mess with.
