9. Five Feet Apart

Five Feet Apart
Lionsgate

It's difficult to believe that Five Feet Apart isn't a young adult novel adaptation because it has all the right ingredients. Released in 2019, Five Feet Apart follows the story of William (Cole Sprouse) and Stella (Haley Lu Richardson). Both teens are diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and as such, are warned that they must stay five feet apart in order to avoid cross-contamination.

Inevitably, William and Stella start to develop feelings for each other and as they fall in love, the limitations of their condition begins to become more of a hindrance. If you've already seen The Fault In Our Stars a million times, Five Feet Apart is the film for you. It shouldn't be written off as another simple, teen romance.

Richardson and Sprouse bring real heart to the story . They make it extremely easy to become attached to these characters. You'll smile at their triumphs and cry at their losses - perfect when you're in the need for an emotional release.
