15 Scariest Stephen King Movie Moments
6. The Car Attack - Cujo
Giant dogs are scary. Even without the devil in them, a murderous desire and a bloodied muzzle, there's something not very pleasant about huge, slobbering creatures at the best of times, so Cujo really takes things to the next level.
In truth, the film comes in about dead middle on the spectrum of King adaptation quality, but it has some very solid scares in there, including the anxiety-filled scene in which the monstrous hound attacks Donna and her son Tad in their car. It's a perfect storm of intensity, with the dog attacking and the heat inside the car threatening to kill the pair off too first.
The attack alone would be bad enough, but when Tad starts to be overcome by the heat, Donna's panic dials the effect up even further, with Dee Wallace's performance shining throughout.
