6. Ivy Bethune (Duana)

Russian actress Ivy Bethune may be best remembered for playing Ma Peabody in Back to the Future, but a few years later, she cemented herself in Trek history forever more with her appearance in The Next Generation's first season episode "When The Bough Breaks."

Bethune played Duana, a member of the Aldean leadership, which kidnaps several of the Enterprise's children - including Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton) - in the hope of repopulating its infertile planet. Creepy.

Bethune's casting is especially significant in retrospect as she was only the sixth Star Trek actor to reach age 100, and at the time of her death was the third-oldest surviving Trek cast member.

She died of natural causes on July 19 at the age of 101, having survived her daughter Zina by seven years after she died in a 2012 car accident.
