4. The Vocal Performances Feature A Mix Of Three Singing Voices - Bohemian Rhapsody
While it's clear to anyone with a functioning pair of ears that Rami Malek didn't provide the bulk of the singing for his role as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, he wasn't merely lip-syncing to Mercury's vocals as many suspected.
The final sound mix not only includes Mercury's master vocals and live vocals from Malek, but also a third set from Freddie Mercury impersonator Marc Martel. Martel said of the experience:
"They hired me to do some of the singing in the movie and give the audience an immersive experience and not be able to tell where the singing is coming from...It is to make the audience believe they are really watching Freddie Mercury sing. I got to go to Abbey Road for a few weeks and do some recording there."
So while there are certainly a few moments where the dubbing is overly obvious or the lip-sync doesn't quite match up, it's not merely a case of Malek miming over the Queen master tracks.
