Back in 1999, the Harry Potter books had become such a global phenomenon that Warner Bros. snapped up the rights to adapt the story into movies and set about getting things underway as quickly as possible to capitalise on what they probably thought would be a narrow window of interest - how wrong they were but we remain grateful they acted so quickly!

The Philosopher's Stone was released in 2001 to critical acclaim and many believed it was near faultless in its execution... Well, nearly.

Obviously, this is not the only time the first movie will appear on this list and we focus on the villain of the piece this time around: Quirinus Quirrell, Defence Against the Dark Arts professor and all around oddball. If it weren't strange enough that a teacher instructing students on how to protect themselves was an unbelievable coward, his appearance is also questionable as he sports a very wide turban despite Ron pointing out he had no hair (in the novel).

Or did he? As there are several shots throughout The Philosopher's Stone in which professor Quirrell's sideburns can be seen very clearly and an equal number wherein he is evidently bald underneath his turban.

The stress of carrying the Dark Lord on the back of your head is definitely something that could cause one to go bald but obviously not all of the time.
