15 Stupid Star Wars Movie Mistakes You Probably Missed
4. Attacking From The Front - Empire Strikes Back
The Battle of Hoth succeeded in entertaining fans while also showing us that the Empire was back with a vengeance. The massive AT-AT walkers filled audiences with dread and awe as they continued their unrelenting advance towards the rebel shield generators.
Their heavy armour is too strong for the blasters, so Luke and his squadron of snowspeeders improvise and use their tow cables to try and bring them down. The manoeuvre proves dangerous to pull off, as multiple speeders are shot down by the walkers. However, if you stop and think about their plan of attack for a second, you will notice a major flaw.
The only weapons the walkers have are forward facing cannons, meaning that if Luke and his squadron attacked the walkers from the rear or its sides, they would not be able to fire back and make taking them down much easier. This clear design flaw in the walkers was overlooked by the film crew and not taken into consideration when filming began.
As for the battle itself, while it is still entertaining to watch, it does make you wonder why Luke and his squadron never realised the walkers major weakness themselves.
