15 Terrible Mistakes That Almost Ruined James Bond For Everyone
2. Dr. Kananga's Death By Inflation (Live & Let Die)
Yaphet Kotto's Live and Let Die villain Dr. Kananga earns one of the silliest and most ridiculous deaths of any Bond villain, as he and Bond take a plunge into his pool, only for the spy to shove a pellet of compressed air down his throat and force him underwater. Just as Mr. Big realises what's about to happen, he flies out of the water towards the ceiling, bloated up like a balloon, before exploding into a pile of chunks and torn clothing. Bond follows up with the remark, "He always did have an inflated opinion of himself." Even for the Roger Moore years, this is mightily silly, taking daftness to a whole other level, one that's exacerbated by the terrible visual effects: how is this above sight supposed to look remotely like an actual human being?
