15 Terrible Recent Movies Destined To Become Cult Classics

15. Project X

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 28% Why It Sucks: Project X is a relatively ambitious teen comedy, a found footage take on the same formula everyone's seen time and time again. The film's primary problem is the three protagonists: they're exceptionally irritating to anyone over the age of about 17, likely causing older audiences to ask, "Was I really that annoying when I was that age?" Throw in plenty of casual misogyny and it completes the recipe for a supremely obnoxious, curiously smug movie that's nowhere near as funny as it thinks it is. Why It'll Become A Cult Classic: Despite its lack of appeal to adults, it's difficult to deny that youngsters will connect with Project X, many of whom were likely too young to catch the movie in cinemas. In the age of social media where everyone has a camera phone in their pocket, the found footage gimmick makes a movie that holds a mirror up to the current generation, and given that younger viewers are more likely to let the film's perceived flaws slide, it's no wonder that an entire age of youngsters are absolutely obsessed with this film.
